Telling God To Shut Up 2

In addition to ignoring the Bible there are other things men do which get the same result as telling God to shut up or buzz off. They just dabble in the Bible. They doubt it. They put it off. They pick the parts they like and ignore what they don*t like. They write their own Bible. They use it to build themselves up, rather than magnifying the Lord. They don*t memorize it. They don*t meditate on it. They don*t want to be reproved by it or corrected by it. They avoid Biblical churches and they avoid believers, sporadically or always. They prefer to associate with other like-minded God-hushers. I have been guilty of all of the above.

Luke 24:32: And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

John 6:63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Psalms 19:7: The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Without the Bible souls are not converted. The Bible makes the simple wise.

Matthew 7:24: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

In this passage the Bible is kinder than I would expect to those who hear it but do not obey it. It says they shall be likened unto a foolish man. There are other passages where the Bible actually calls men fools.

Proverbs 10:8: The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

Psalms 14:1: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Whether we consider the opposite of wise men as unconverted, simple, foolish or all of those things, they do not follow the Lord. Refusing to hear and obey the Word of God and the voice of God is dangerous.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
